Save Images to a PC Using Record/Playback

What is Needed?

In-Sight Explorer must be running on a PC and connected to the target In-Sight vision system.

How are the Images Saved?

Images can be automatically sorted based on the job's overall pass/fail status, and saved into the "Good" and/or "Bad" folders on the PC.

Where are the Images Saved?

Images are saved to the PC. The default folder location is:

Windows 7/Windows 10: C:\ProgramData\Cognex\In-Sight\In-Sight Explorer x.x.x\RecordPlayback\

The images are stored in a subdirectory that is automatically created, based on the vision system's Host Name. For more information, see Network Settings Dialog.

Note: The folder location can be specified in the Record Folder field in the Record/Playback Options dialog.

How to Set Up

  1. From the Image menu, open the Record/Playback Options dialog.
  2. Click the Record tab and configure the Record settings.
  3. To automatically sort pass and fail images, select the following option:
    • EasyBuilder View: Sort on Pass/Fail (Record to Good/Bad Folders) in the Pass/Fail Sort group box
    • Spreadsheet View: Sort on Value (Record to Good/Bad Folders) in the Watch Cell Sort group box

When pass and fail images are recorded, a "Good" and "Bad" folder are automatically created within the specified Record Folder location.

  4. From the Image menu, select Record. The images acquired by the vision system will be now saved to the specified Record Folder.
Tip:
  • Using the In-Sight Explorer PC filmstrip, images can also be automatically sorted based on the job's overall pass/fail status, and saved into the "Good" and/or "Bad" folders. For more information on the PC filmstrip, see:
