Application Steps
The Application Steps pane allows for single-click access to any of the EasyBuilder steps. The application steps are presented in the order typically used to build a job. Once a job is built, the steps can be revisited in any order, so that job parameters can be corrected or fine-tuned until the desired result is achieved.
An application step can be greyed-out, depending on your access level, the task that is currently being performed, whether you are connected to a sensor or an emulator or if an In-Sight sensor is Online.
Using the Application Steps
Click on any step to access its settings pane for configuring job parameters. For more information, see Settings Pane. Following are brief descriptions of each step:
- Get Connected: Connect to an In-Sight sensor or emulator, and open an existing EasyBuilder job or start a new job.
- Set Up Image: Acquire or load an image, adjust acquisition settings and calibrate the image to real-world units.
- Locate Part: Add a Location Tool to the job and configure it to create a fixture, which is a vision inspection tool that defines an origin reference point for the other vision inspection tools.
- Inspect Part: Add an Inspect Part Tool to the job and configure it to examine a part and qualify or quantify it, based on your image analysis criteria.
- Inputs/Outputs: Define the settings of the discrete input and output lines of supported Cognex I/O Modules by customizing the name of the input Line, setting the signal type, selecting the edge transition of the signal and forcing inputs and outputs to test your application.
- Communication: Define inspection results for open data access and exchange (OPC), to configure an EasyView for VisionView and to define the network and serial communication settings of In-Sight vision systems, enabling them to communicate data to and from other devices, such as a robot or PLC.
- Filmstrip: Configure the filmstrip settings for reviewing stored images from the sensor or the PC.
-
Save Job: Perform various file-management and sensor-maintenance tasks, while the sensor is Offline.
Note: If the Allow Online Job Save checkbox on the User dialog is selected, only users with Full or Protected access are allowed to save jobs while Online. For more information, see User Access Settings Dialog. - Run Job: Run the job, review the results and modify or troubleshoot settings, if necessary.
