In-Sight ViDi Adapter Co-Installation

Note: This feature is only available for devices running the In-Sight ViDi adapter.

Starting from In-Sight ViDi 1.8.0, In-Sight Vision Suite supports installing multiple versions of the In-Sight ViDi adapter on the same PC.

This allows you to:

  • Maintain and connect to vision systems compatible with different releases of the In-Sight ViDi adapter.
  • Launch different versions of the In-Sight ViDi PC service with the In-Sight ViDi PC Manager (1.2.0 and 1.8.0).
  • Configure emulated devices for different adapter versions (1.2.0 and 1.8.0).
Note:

Consider the following limitations if you plan to co-install multiple versions of In-Sight ViDi on your PC:

  • Always install older adapter versions before newer ones. In other words, install In-Sight ViDi 1.2.0 before 1.8.0.
  • You can only run one version of an emulator or In-Sight ViDi PC instance at a time. Likewise, you can only set one emulator or In-Sight ViDi PC version to run automatically on startup.
  • In-Sight ViDi PC 1.2.0 does not show up in the 1.8.0 version of the In-Sight ViDi PC Manager. To configure and launch an In-Sight ViDi PC 1.2.0 instance, use the In-Sight ViDi PC Manager 1.2.0 application, available in the Cognex In-Sight ViDi 1.2.0 > In-Sight ViDi PC 1.2.0 node of the Windows Start menu.
  • You cannot configure In-Sight ViDi 1.2.0 emulators in the Emulator Configuration dialog if you also have a newer version of In-Sight ViDi installed. In such cases, configure an 1.2.0 emulator through the In-Sight ViDi 1.2.0 Emulator Configurator application.
