SLMP PLC Setup

In-Sight ViDi supports SLMP, a common protocol realizing seamless connection between CC-Link IE and TCP/IP-based products. This protocol is used by the application to communicate with Mitsubishi iQ-Q and FX Series PLCs / Motion Controllers (MCs) installed on the network. Compared to the EtherNet/IP and PROFINET-based network communications (where the input and output communication is controlled by the PLC/MC), SLMP communication between In-Sight ViDi and the PLC/MC is initiated by the vision system.

Follow the below steps to enable the SLMP protocol for In-Sight 3D:

1. Launch In-Sight Vision Suite, and open the Industrial Ethernet utility from the Utilities window.
2. Select SLMP from the drop-down list. The protocol-specific Settings and Device Addressing tabs then appear. Configure the connection according to the local network properties. Refer to the Industrial Ethernet - SLMP Settings topic of the In-Sight Vision Suite Help for more information.
3. Install the GX Works application on the same PC as In-Sight Vision Suite.
4. Launch the GX Works application and configure the In-Sight vision system so that it can communicate with the Mitsubishi PLC/MC. Refer to the GX Works Operating Manual for more information.
