Read 2D Code and Read 2D Codes (1-20) Identification Tool - Settings Tab
Defines the type of symbology to attempt to decode:
- Data Matrix (default)
-
QR Code
Note: When QR Code is selected, the tool attempts to decode all QR Code types (QR Model 1/2, Micro QR and QR Model 1/2). - MaxiCode
- Aztec Code
- DotCode
Defines the maximum number of codes/symbols to be read (1 - 20; default = 1).
Displays whether or not the tool has been trained on a particular code/symbol; displays a 1 when the tool has been trained, and a 0 if it has not been trained.
Trains a model of the code/symbol read; trained information is retained until the Untrain button is pressed. To retrain a code/symbol, press the Untrain button, then press the Train button with the new code/symbol present. Training is used to help the speed and performance of the tool, by teaching the tool which type of code/symbol to decode. When using either the Read 1D Codes (1-20) Identification Tool or Read 2D Codes (1-20) Identification Tool and training, configure the region around a single code/symbol before pressing the Train button. Once the code/symbol has been trained, you can adjust the region to search more of the Field of View (FOV) for multiple codes/symbols. Training only works with a single code/symbol in the region; if you press the Train button with multiple codes/symbols in the region, there is no way to dictate which code/symbol will be trained. Before training, ensure that the correct symbology group (Data Matrix or QR) is selected in the Symbology Group parameter.
Undoes the training of a trained model code/symbol. To retrain a symbol, press the Untrain button, then press the Train button with the new code present.
Defines the decoding settings (No Perspective, Perspective or Train Perspective; default = No Perspective) for Data Matrix symbologies. The Symbology Group parameter must be set to Data Matrix to enable this parameter.
- No Perspective = Decodes Data Matrix symbols that have no perspective distortion.
- Perspective = Decodes Data Matrix symbols with perspective distortion; the perspective distortion is estimated independently during model training and run time.
-
Train Perspective = Decodes Data Matrix symbols with a known perspective distortion. The perspective is trained along with other attributes when using a trained model of a symbol. At run time, the symbol is searched in a space where the perspective distortion in the input image is compensated using the trained attributes. This option requires that the run time symbol is placed on the same plane as that of the training symbol. This option allows you to decode severely damaged symbols with known perspective distortion.
Tip: It is recommended that the In-Sight vision system be mounted so the angle of incidence (the angle between the optical axis of the sensor and the normal vector of the plane on which the symbol is presented) is no more than 40 degrees and the resolution of the symbol be at least 5 pixels per cell.
- Moderate = Enables 2DMax® to allow reading of low-quality symbols that have undergone normal wear.
- Extreme = Enables 2DMax and PowerGrid® to allow reading of low-quality symbols with damage to their quiet zones, finder patterns and clocking patterns, due to occlusion or wear.
Defines the operational mode (Read or Match String; default = Read) of the tool.
- Read = Used when the information in the code/symbol is unknown. The tool will automatically decode the information contained in the code/symbol, and display the decoded information in the String parameter.
- Match String = Used to verify that a known code/symbol is present and readable. The tool will decode the information contained in codes/symbols and compare the decoded information against the information you entered in the Match String parameter.
Defines the expected string to be read (only enabled when the Mode parameter is set to Match String). Enter the information that you expect the tool to decode.
Defines whether or not all of the decoded codes/symbols in the region should match the string defined in the Match String parameter to pass. The Match String parameter must be configured to enable this option.
- All Match = All of the decoded codes/symbols must match the string defined in the Match String parameter.
- Any Match = At least one of the decoded codes/symbols must match the string defined in the Match String parameter.
Defines the order, if any, in which results are returned (None, Top Down, Left to Right, Alphabetical or String Length; default = None).
- None = Sorts by first decoded results. Any undecoded results will follow decoded results.
- Top Down = Sorts in ascending X fixture coordinate value order.
- Left to Right = Sorts in ascending Y fixture coordinate value order.
- Alphabetical = Sorts the results alphabetically.
- String Length = Sorts the results by string length (shortest to longest).
- Raw = Non-printable ASCII characters are not translated, and the raw string is returned. This mode is useful when outputting multi-bytes character sets such as Unicode or Shift-JIS.
Translate all non-printable ASCII characters (0-31, 127-255) = All non-printable ASCII characters (0-31, 127-255) are translated, using the following table:
0x00 "<NUL>" 0x01 "<SOH>" 0x02 "<STX>" 0x03 "<ETX>" 0x04 "<EOT>" 0x05 "<ENQ>" 0x06 "<ACK>" 0x07 "<BEL>" 0x08 "<BS>" 0x09 "<HT>" 0x0a "<LF>" 0x0b "<VT>" 0x0c "<FF>" 0x0d "<CR>" 0x0e "<SO>" 0x0f "<SI>" 0x10 "<DLE>" 0x11 "<DC1>" 0x12 "<DC2>" 0x13 "<DC3>" 0x14 "<DC4>" 0x15 "<NAK>" 0x16 "<SYN>" 0x17 "<ETB>" 0x18 "<CAN>" 0x19 "<EM>" 0x1a "" 0x1b "<ESC>" 0x1c "<FS>" 0x1d "<GS>" 0x1e "<RS>" 0x1f "<US>" 0x7f "<DEL>" Note: Non-printable ASCII characters that are not listed in the table will be translated as "<X>", where X is the decimal value.- Translate all non-printable ASCII characters except CR (0x0d) and LF (0x0a) = All non-printable ASCII characters except CR (0x0d) and LF (0x0a) are translated.
- Raw with null characters translated = Non-printable ASCII characters are not translated and the raw string is returned, except the null characters that are replaced with "<NUL>".
Defines whether or not the print quality tests will be performed (by default, this setting is disabled).
Defines the amount of time, in milliseconds (0 - 30000;default = 5000), that the tool will search for a valid code/symbol before execution is stopped and the tool results in a Fail.
Displays the number of decoded codes/symbols.
