Development Keys

Cognex supports time-limited development keys for application developers. Development keys have the following features:

An expiration date 1 year in the future
An application session limit of 5 hours

You can stop and restart your CVL application for another 5-hour session at any time.

Use cogtool, a utility included with your CVL installation, to discover how much time remains on your development key.

Enter the following in a command prompt window:

cogtool --print | more

CVL software includes the Cognex Expiration Reminder to warn you of an impending expiration date. The reminder appears once a day if the security key if the key will expire within the next 30 days. Time-limited development keys are typically discarded at the end of their time limit. To get additional time with a new security key, contact your Cognex sales representative or Cognex Customer Support.
