Acquiring with Cognex CDC Series Cameras
Most cameras sold today use Charge Coupled Device (CCD) sensor arrays where each CCD element stores the light energy for one pixel. Cognex also offers a camera line using Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) technology. CMOS sensors require less power than CCD arrays. To support this camera line, Cognex also introduced the MVS-8100D frame grabber and a proprietary high speed interconnect protocol named CogLink. For information about the hardware aspects of this system, see the MVS-8100D and CDC Cameras Hardware Manual. The following sections describe the unique software aspects of MVS-8100D and CMOS cameras.
